Tinnes Software - News Archive 2002

Friday 4th January

Added a NEW PROGRAM!!!

It's called "Auto Stuff", check it out in the Downloads section!

Wednesday 23rd January

Not very big news. I finally got round to adding an animation and description for Auto Stuff. For more information on this program please see the README.

Saturday 9th February

Added two pictures to the Stills section in Stick Art. You can find the first one here and the second one here.

Saturday 23rd February

I added a FORUM!!!!!!

Yes, please give me feedback, ask questions, insult me, get help or make a suggestion.

Just click on "Have your Say" on the main menu.

Don't be shy, post anything you like. Let me know if you have any recommendations for different categories.

Wednesday 27th February

I have started replacing the installers that the programs use. This is because the old one had some issues and didn't work properly on some peoples machines. At the moment I have only updated the one for Auto Stuff. If you download this, please let me know if you have any problems with the new installer\uninstaller.

P.S. Please post on the forum.........I made it for YOU!!!!!!

Friday 8th March

Ok well I've replaced another one of the installers, Wallpaper Changer. The rest will hopeful follow soon.

Auto Stuff 0.41b is now out. The only change is that it now gives the option to run at startup when installing. If you change your mind later this can be changed by right clicking on the System Tray and selecting either "Don't run at Startup" or "Run at Startup".

I have recently started using Windows 2000 so I'm currently going through all the programs trying to make them all compatible. I would like to test the programs on Windows XP and NT as well but I don't have them. If anyone is using one of these operation systems and wants to be a beta tester then PLEASE, leave a message on the forum. Even if your not and still interested in helping me out with testing then get in touch, I may even include your name in the credits. :)

The downloads page was getting a bit big and seeing as I may be adding some more programs soon, I have now split it into two pages. When I get a chance I'm also going to add more detail to the downloads pages. For example include screenshots, FAQ and Operating Systems.

Finally, I have been working on a new version of Timed Shutdown. It's nearly done, I'm just testing it at the moment. I'll let you know more when I release it, but it will now be compatible with Windows 2000.

Sunday 10th March

Timed Shutdown 0.3b is now OUT!!!!

  • Now works on Windows 2000 as well as 9x.
  • New Trigger: Shutdown when your CPU usage goes below a certain % for a number of seconds.
  • New Trigger: Shutdown when connection to the internet is lost.
  • Tided up the countdown code.
  • Made it so it's now easier to enter time (it automatically goes onto the next box).
  • Removed the need for "Shutdown.exe". You can now shutdown without a trigger by using the "-s" switch in the command line.

    e.g. "F:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\T_Shutdown.exe" -s

This is used to stop people from just running "Shutdown.exe" to see what it does and losing any unsaved data. The count down window is also used now.

  • Uses new installer.

Also for a bit of fun I have added a Insult generated by Auto Stuff at the top of the forum. It changes each time you refresh the page!!!!!! :)

Monday 11th March

Updated the downloads pages so now they show which software is compatible with which Operating System. At the moment the only one that doesn't work in both Win 9x and 2000 is Error Maker. It has a problem disabling CTRL + ALT + DEL. I'm working on this.

I have also added a FAQ and Screenshots for Timed Shutdown. I hope to do ones for the others when I get a chance.

Updated "10. Slide Show" to use the new installer.

Added a new section on the forum, Apply to be a Beta Tester.

Tuesday 12th March

I broke my favorite coffee mug yesterday. As a sign of respect I will be having a minutes silence and will not release any updates today.

I think you should take this time to reflect on your own coffee mugs and how much they really mean to you. For if it wasn't for them you would probably be drinking your coffee\tea\hot beverage out of a cereal bowl.

P.S. If anyone wants to buy me a new mug.............feel free.

Wednesday 13th March

I added a Poll to the main page, vote away guys. :)

Thursdays 14th March

There are now two versions of the site. A Flash one and a Non-Flash one.

I recommend you use the Flash one if you have the choice as the pictures look nicer and the buttons on the top menu change when you hover over them. Which I'm sure you'll agree is very important. :)

Unfortunately the Animations and Games can't be accessed if your viewing the Non-Flash version as these are actually made using Flash.

I had a slight problem with the Poll earlier but, it's up and running again now.

Sunday 17th March

There's a new version of Error Maker!!!!!!

  • You can now have multi-line error messages.
  • Made the buttons on the toolbar backgrounds transparent.
  • Tided up some parts of the code which means the .exe file is now smaller
  • In Windows 9x the program no longer disables CTRL+ALT+DEL but instead removes itself from the list. This is better as now the user can't tell if it's running or not. In Windows 2000 the program is also now hidden from the from Applications list.
  • I have no longer included "Stealth.exe" as the same result can now be achieved using the command line on the main .exe file. This also means that you can now use Templates in Stealth mode. If you don't want to create a shortcut and edit the command line yourself, the program can create one for you.
  • Removed the bottom bar alignment as I felt it was irrelevant.
  • Added some new Templates...

    - Out of Memory

    - Internal Error

    - Kernel Error

  • A .err extension is now added to all saved files.
  • You can now load in previously saved files.
  • Fixed small bug to do with looping.
  • Other stuff I can't remember.

And of course this release uses the new installer, which means that now all the programs shouldn't have any problems installing. You can download it HERE.

Monday 18th March

Added screenshots for the new version of Error Maker.

Wednesday 3rd April

There is a long over due update of Wallpaper Changer. The program still needs some work and isn't perfect.....yet, but it has come a long way since the last version.

Here are the changes.....

  • Ability to select a folder to display wallpapers from instead of using a file.
  • Now supports the use of jpg's and gif's as well as bmp's.
  • I've now built List Maker into the main program.
  • Can now load in and edit files.
  • You can now set the desktop icons backgrounds to transparent.
  • Choose the display mode you want e.g.. Stretch, Center, Tile or AUTO.
  • When in Random Mode the same image can't be displayed twice in a row.
  • The program has been almost completely remade!!!

Also I've removed the Auto Stuff quote from the forum header. The novelty value had worn off (for me at least) and it was just taking longer to download the pages.

--------------- Start Rant ---------------

I don't think this is really going to be an issue though as NO ONE IS POSTING ANY MESSAGES!!!

You know, a quick "hi" wouldn't go a miss. :)

I made the forum for YOU, post anything you like.................no really!!!!

--------------- End Rant ---------------

Well now I got that out of my system, I have replaced the poll on the main page with a Newsletter subscription box. You can now receive information on new programs and updates in your Inbox. I promise that it will be SPAM FREE and I will not pass on your details to anyone. The Newsletter provider has also said this.

Wednesday 7th April

Just finished version 0.4b of Timed Shutdown.

Here are the changes.....

  • New "Countdown" trigger. Works very similar to the "Time" trigger only it saves you having to work out what time it will be in 90 minutes say. You can choose to enter the delay in seconds, minutes, hours or in the hh:mm:ss format (e.g.. 04 hours, 26 minutes and 37 seconds).
  • You are now only allowed to enter numbers into the Time settings boxes. This helps stop typo's when entering a time.
  • Added the option to not only Shutdown but to also Restart or Log-Off.
  • Option to use Final Countdown has been moved to the advanced section for safety reasons.
  • You now have the choice to use Force or not. This was automatically used before and it's recommended that you keep it selected. For more information see the README file or the FAQ.
  • The Final Countdown is now "Always on Top" which means it can't get hided behind other windows.
  • Sorted out the Tap Stops and made it so you can easily jump between the triggers by using ALT + the underlined letter in the trigger name.

I've also updated the Screenshots and FAQ accordingly.

Friday 26th April

Cor it's been a while. Sorry about that...I've started working on several new programs but have yet to finish any of them. In the mean time I have managed to get one to a releasable state...

Trial Tricker 0.1b

Have you ever used a piece of software that stops working after a certain number of days or on a particular date?

This is normally due to that fact that it is a demo of the program and is used for evaluation purposes only. Sometimes however the evaluation period isn't long enough. If you lead a busy life and don't have much time on your hands, you could install the program and never actually get round to using it till the evaluation period has ended.

As most people have probably discovered the lifetime of some of these programs can be extended by altering the system clock. This can be very annoying though if you have to change the date every time you want to run the program, then change it back afterwards. Alternatively you can permanently set your clock back, though this disrupts any other programs that use the system clock to function e.g.. ICQ's history.

This is where Trial Tricker comes in. It doesn't actually remove the programs limitations just alters the system clock. It basically changes the date to a time when the program works, runs the program then sets the date back. This then allows you to continue evaluating the software.

---- IMPORTANT ----

Please do not use Trial Tricker for getting round registering the software. When you have finished evaluating the program, if you like it and use it a lot, I strongly urge you to support the author and buy it. Without users contributions many quality software companies would no longer be able to provide you, the user, with any more valued releases. Thank you.

So don't think I've forgotten about you, I just have a "To Do" list the size of....of....something really big. If you want to know of any updates to the site then why not subscribe to my Newsletter on the main page. I won't send you SPAM or pass your address on to anyone AND it doesn't even have adverts in it!!!

Wednesday 1st May

Happy first of the month to you all....and what a great start to the month it is. You know that "2 do list" I was going on about? No? Well don't worry, no one else reads the news section either. :) Well anyway, I can cross one thing off as I have now finished the first public release of "Desktop Calendar".

- Applaud now please -

"What the hell is that" I hear you cry, well....

As the name suggests, this is a calendar that sits on your desktop. It's different from most calendar programs as it doesn't clutter up your taskbar or system tray. You can enter important dates like dentist appointments, birthdays or deadlines. Then when you turn your computer on, or that day rolls over you will be alerted of any events. Desktop Calendar also handles your computer's wallpaper, displaying a different picture each month. Or if you prefer you can turn this feature off and use your own wallpaper. The program comes with a default Wallpaper Pack but more can be download, or you can make your own.

I can't really explain it all that well, the best thing to do is look at the screenshots or even better try it out for yourself.

I hope someone finds some use for it. Please post any feedback or questions on the forum. Also this is the first release so if you can think of any suggestions on how to improve it or find a bug then again please make use of the forum.

Also don't forget you can find a few more Wallpaper Packs here and if your feeling creative you can learn how to make your own here.

Tuesday 14th May

I've thrown the old EZboard forum in the bin and got a new one.

Is it better? I don't know.....you decide.

You can visit the new forum here.

Tuesday 28th May

Some big changes to do with the site....

First of all I'm sorry to say I had to remove the non-flash alternative of the site. This was a hard decision to make but I'm afraid it was just to hard trying to update and maintain everything twice. It was leading to me overlooking dead links and invalid pictures not to mention taking up a lot of time. Again I apologise.

Secondly I have scrapped the forum idea altogether. It just didn't generate enough use to warrant me keeping it. Put it this was, since the 23rd of February when I first added a forum I've had maybe 2 messages from users. So when the board said that I have to now start paying......it was gone. Don't worry though as you can now contact me directly through the Tinnes Software e-mail address. This is actually better then the forum from both mine and your point of view. It means I will be able to get your messages quicker and therefore reply faster and from my point of view I don't have to keep re-visiting a web site, I can just check the account with my other e-mail accounts.

Thirdly, I have unfortunately had to add donation pleas to the download pages. I'm sorry about this, but I'm finding it hard to support the site financially and any help would be greatly appreciated. I only ask, if you like one or more of the programs and you can afford it then you can please make a small donation. This is NOT compulsory and doesn't have to be much. I make this site and the programs on it in my spare time and any financial support to help cover the sites running costs would be very helpful. Thank you.

Lastly on a lighter note my site won an award!!! I'm quite proud of this and I think it will look very nice on my imaginary mantel piece.

site award

Tuesday 28th May (a bit later)

I almost forgot, you can now send digital postcards of some of the Stick Art Stills to your friends. It's in the Stick Art section.

Also you can now get to Tinnes Software using...

http://tinnes.cjb.net

This simply re-directs you to the main site and is a lot easier to remember the the actual address. I recommend if you have the site in your favorites (book marked) then you change the address to this one. That way if I ever have to change the location where the site is hosted then you will get pointed to the new place.

Wednesday 29th May

Today sees a new release (v0.21b) of Desktop Calendar....

  • Events can now be repeated every year e.g.. Birthdays, Anniversaries.
  • The calendar can now be compacted when not in use by Double Clicking on the title bar.
  • Dates now have suffixes e.g.. "11 Jan" is now "11th Jan"
  • Moved some of the Style & Position options around to try and make it easier to configure.
  • The title bar is now configurable and allows you to display the date and time in different formats.
  • When you drag the calendar now it gives you the option to change into Manual Positioning (if your not already in it) so the position will be used next time the calendar is loaded.
  • If you choose, you can now not allow the calendar to be dragged around when manual positioning is not selected.
  • The themes box style and position for the current month can now be previewed graphically.
  • There are now 2 more places that the calendar can go when setting the position. Center Screen Left and Center Screen Right.
  • To preview the years images in a Wallpaper Pack there is now a slider instead of a drop down box. Also the picture for the current month is now displayed instead of just January's.
  • You can now override the display modes in Themes. This means that if the Theme has all it's images set to stretch you can set it to use Center instead.
  • Now works with date formats other than "dd:mm:yy" e.g.. American "mm:dd:yy"
  • Navigating to future\past dates is now easier with pop-up lists when you right click on either the title bar or left and right arrows.

Any questions or suggestions about this new version then use the Contact button at the top, that's what it's there for. :)

To go with this new release are 2 more Theme Packs, Mission: Impossible and a Space one with planets and stuff.

And if your feeling creative and want to make your own Theme Pack then you may also like to know that there is a new version of DC Creator. There are 2 main changes first is that it now support the 2 new screen positions that DC now uses and secondly the preview images look nicer. :)

Phew! Now I can go to bed. :)

Thursday 30th May

IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you downloaded Desktop Calendar v0.21b?????

If so then you need to download a small PATCH as there is a pretty big bug! DIRECTIONS: Make sure Desktop Calendar ISN'T running, then use the Patch.

Earlier today it was brought to my attention that the latest release of Desktop Calendar has a flaw. You will probably not even notice it if you live in the UK as it only effects people using a date format other then "dd:mm:yy" (That's DAY then MONTH then YEAR) e.g.. Americans, who default is "mm:dd:yy".

It seems that when the program is run on a date format other then "dd:mm:yy" it can cause every months to appear to have 31 days! This in it's self is not a complete disaster, but if you then save a entry on one of these days e.g.. 31st of June (which doesn't exist), when you then try and open Settings it will CRASH!!!!

I'm VERY VERY sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and hope this hasn't put you off Desktop Calendar or any other of my programs.

In my defense as I'm in the UK I have been mostly testing the program with the "dd:mm:yy" format, in which the months do have the right number of boxes. When testing the "mm:dd:yy" format it seemed ok because May has 31 days in it!

I can't apologise enough for this silly mistake and I'm sure it will haunt me for sometime to come. :)

Anybody who hasn't yet downloaded Desktop Calendar don't be put off as there is now version 0.22b which doesn't suffer from the same problem.

Friday 31st May

Firstly you can now get to the site using..

www.tinnes.tk

The only draw back is that if it's not used enough then they will take it away from me. :(

In the long run your better of staying with http://tinnes.cjb.net which I have mentioned before. I just thought I'd get the other one anyway....you know give you a choice. :)

Secondly, it's my Birthday today!!!

Tuesday 4th June

No big news...

The people who are kindly letting me use my new re-direction address www.tinnes.tk suddenly started displaying a pop-up whenever anyone used the new address. Apparently if enough people click on it I stand the chance of winning a T-Shirt!!!!!! This is very exciting news indeed. Fortunately for you though I have enough T-Shirts and they give the option to disable it.....so I did. The way I see it, the internets got enough pop-ups already without me adding to it for the sake of a T-Shirt. :)

Having said that though if anybody owns a T-Shirt factory and wants to send me a freebie I won't complain. :)

Also added a new picture to the Stick Art stills section.

Wednesday 5th June

I forgot to say yesterday, I got another award!

Only Bronze this time, but hey any recognition of my work is great. :)

site award

Thursday 6th June

Look ANOTHER award!

site award

Ahem.......I'd like to thank......etc etc etc. :)

This news page is getting a bit long now, I might split it up soon.

Wednesday 3rd July

Yeah I know, it's been almost a month now since any updates on the site. I've been busy and then I took a short break. You have to remember I do this in my spare time. Also the fact that not one person has made a donation makes it hard to get motivated. Anything, even a £1 or a $1 would be welcome. :)

Anyway I've just started work on a new version of Desktop Calendar. Why DC? Well it's the most downloaded program and I've had some useful suggestions from some kind folks (keep them coming). Also expect to see some more Wallpaper Packs available in the not too distant future.

Don't forget you can make your own Wallpaper Packs and send them in. I'll put them on the site and give you full credit.

If you need any help with anything, like making a Pack or you have a suggestion for one of the programs then please contact me.

Thursday 4th July

As 39.3% of my visitors are American, I'd just like to wish all of them a very happy 4th of July!!!

For everyone else.....Happy Thursday!!!! :)

The news page was getting too long so I've now split it up a bit.

Friday 5th July

Today was a very nice day, I received my first donation! It was from a very kind and supportive Desktop Calendar user. Unfortunately not enough to cover my running costs but still very welcome all the same. Keep the donations coming, every dollar\pound is very much appreciated.

Desktop Calendar also got awarded a 4 Star rating by the editors at SofoTex when I submitted it to there database. :)

You can see their download page for DC here. Unfortunately the link back to my site isn't working yet, but I'm hoping that'll be fixed soon.

desktop calendar award

Saturday 6th July

I've finally got round to uploading some more Wallpaper Packs for Desktop Calendar.

All the pictures in 'BMW Cars' Pack are from the kind folks over at www.desktopwallpapers.net and then put together by me. You should be seeing more Packs from them in the future.

Friday 12th July

There are 3 more Desktop Calendar Wallpaper Packs thanks to a very kind DC user...

Cloth Patterns, Floral Patterns and Marble Patterns and they can all be downloaded here.

Tuesday 16th July

Desktop Calendar has been added to File Hungry and awarded 5 stars! :)

desktop calendar award

Wednesday 17th July

Added two more Desktop Calendar Wallpaper Packs, Fight Club and Game Wallpapers. The latter uses images from nice people over at gamewallpapers.com.

Sunday 21st July

Yes, it's FINALLY here, the new version of Desktop Calendar!!! Listed below is what's new in version 0.3b....

Fixed Bugs

  • If in 'Compact Mode' when the day rolled over, then everything expanded except for the Day Headers.
  • If you entered an event for today, then change month\year then the event use to pop up.
  • If you had the Calendar either using Set Position or Theme Position then it should have updated it's position when the resolution is changed or the Start bar was moved. Instead what was happening was it was reverting to the Manual position for some reason. It didn't always do this, I think it only cropped up in the last release.
  • If you included any quotation marks in your events (") then next time the program started the data file would not load properly. There is now a validation check in place to stop this happening.
  • On the settings window sometimes the set position preview started wrong.
  • The calendar use to disappear when the link on the About page was clicked!

Things Added

  • Included Hotkeys (The program has to be selected for these to work. This just means you have to click somewhere on the calendar first)

    F1 - Show Today's Events

    F2 - Previous Month

    F3 - Current Month

    F4 - Next Month

    F5 - Refresh

    F8 - Settings

    F9 - Switch Box Style

    F12 - Compact\Expand

  • Day headers are now put in the standard order for your country. For example in England most people regard the week to start on a Monday whereas in America it's a Sunday.
  • Day headers are now written in the standard language of your country. E.g.. In Germany, Tuesday use to be abbreviated to "Tue" however it is now abbreviated to "Di" for "Dienstag". It's hard to test this feature so let me know if it has any problems.
  • Added an 'Auto Compact' option. If the option is selected and the calendar is not used after 1 minute then it automatically switches to Compact Mode. Then when the mouse hovers back over it again it expands again. This option is turned off by default.
  • Preview Pack, cycles through each image in a pack and sets it as the wallpaper. The position and box style are also previewed if they're selected.
  • The Settings window now remembers what the last tab you where looking at and starts on it when opened again.
  • Changed the Default Title Bar colour from Black to Blue.
  • Added Tool-tips. Standard - this means that you can hover your mouse over a day and read the whole contents of the box. The calendar has to be selected for this to work which just means you have to click somewhere on it first. This is style is selected by default. Balloon - if these are selected then when you hold down the left mouse button on a day the full contents of the box pops up in a balloon shaped bubble. These can hold more text then a Standard Tool tip so are better for long events.
  • You can now Import Calendar.dat files, Settings Files and from CSV files.
  • You can now Export Calendar.dat files, Settings Files, to CSV files and to Text files.

I've tried to include as many of peoples suggestions as I could. Sorry if yours hasn't been included, but it may very well be in the next version. :)

To go with the new Import\Export functions I've written a couple of pages just explaining some of the options and what they're for etc. This can be accessed from the Desktop Calendar section on the downloads page or here.

I hope you find the additions in this version of some use, as always my e-mail address is open for questions and suggestions. :)

The program is free to download, but if you would like to reward my work then please consider making a small donation. Thank you.

Tuesday 23rd July

I realised the screenshots of Desktop Calendar where still of the original release. I have now updated the page with pictures from the latest version, 0.3b.

I've also just added a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page for Desktop Calendar.

Added another Wallpaper Pack by ><(((º> . GameWallpapers - FPS (First Person Shooters). The pictures are from the kind folks over at gamewallpapers.com.

Sunday 28th July

On request I have made a guide on how to use Trial Tricker and a set of screenshots.

I have now added my ICQ number to the contact page. To prevent unwanted messages I have it set to only receive messages from people on my contact list. Request my authorization and mention something about the site or a program and I'll add you. If you leave the request blank I will automatically decline your request.

Friday 2nd August

Added two more Desktop Calendar Wallpaper Packs using images from desktopwallpapers.net. The first is Animals and the second is Porsche Cars.

Monday 5th August

Added a new question to the Desktop Calendar FAQ page...

21. I downloaded the new version (I already have installed an older version installed) but when I install it, it encounters a problem and I get an error?

For the answer please visit the FAQ page.

Good news for 20% of my visitors. I've just had confirmation that Desktop Calendar DOES work on Windows ME. If anybody else is using the program on an operating system other then 98, 2000 or ME then please let me know.

Wednesday 7th August

More Operating Systems have been confirmed to work with Desktop Calendar, Windows NT and Windows XP. I think that's every OS now except for Windows 95. If I remember correctly 95 didn't have the option to 'Stretch' the Wallpaper so that might cause a problem when using the Wallpaper Packs which do.

If someone is successfully using Desktop Calendar (with the wallpaper packs enabled) on Windows 95 it would be great to hear from you. :)

Thanks to all the people who did take the time to do the testing and e-mail me.

Thursday 8th August

After having a rather disappointing number of donations (one!) I have been starting to think about charging for later versions of Desktop Calendar. I need someway to cover my costs and the voluntary donation method clearly working. I still believe in the Freeware idea which is why I will continue to keep the current version free as well as all the other programs.

You would only have to pay if you wanted the extras that would come with a new version. Anyway nothing is confirmed yet, I'm still thinking about it. To see what you all think about this I have added a Poll to the download page. It would be really great if you could take the time to vote. Unfortunately it does appear as a popup, sorry, I hate them too. :(

Tuesday 13th August

The latest version of Desktop Calendar (0.3b) has finally been added to Download.com. There have been two completely opposite comments from users so far.

I guess this just goes to show.....you can't please everyone. Still, on the bright side I can now call the program controversial! :)

Saturday 24th August

Sorry, I've been a bit quiet lately. But with good reason! Firstly I'm working on redesigning the site. It should be keeping the same minimalist look and the stick men theme, I'm just trying to make it look.......better. Anyway I'm still playing around with it trying to make it look right so I don't know when that'll be ready.

I've also be working on a new program, that will hopefully be released soon. I don't want to give too much away just yet.

On top of that, it appears from a couple of the comments on Download.com some people are having issues when trying to uninstall Desktop Calendar. I really wished they'd e-mailed me and told me, then I would have been able to fix the problem sooner! Anyway, I've been working on a fix for the last couple of days now and it's pretty much done. I just need to keep running tests to make sure it's working as it should. This should hopefully be on the site either later today or tomorrow.

Finally, I've been getting ready for my holiday! Just to let you know, I should be leaving on the 28th of August and will be away for about 2 weeks. I'll post another reminder before I leave.

I think that's pretty much it. Oh, thanks to all of you who took the time to post a positive comment on Download.com, they really are nice to read. Thanks. :)

Sunday 25th August

Ok, I've updated the uninstaller for Desktop Calendar. It should now remove all traces of the program. This means that if you do want to keep your Events or Settings then make sure you back them up first using the Export options! I'm hoping in the future to give the option of what what to remove and what to keep, but at the moment I thought I'd just get it out ASAP.

If you've already got Desktop Calendar with the old uninstaller. Then for directions on removing all traces of the program manually see q. 23 of the FAQ.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this. :(

Wednesday 27th August

Right, I'm off on my holidays! Or if your American, my vacation!

I should be back on the 9th of September. You can still e-mail me, I'll just answer them when I get back.

Cya. :)

Monday 9th September

Ok, I'm back but I have quite a back log of e-mails to sort through. I will answer them all.....eventually, but if there's a long delay before I reply, that's why. Sorry.

While I've been away Alexander Sarris has kindly sent me a Desktop Calendar Wallpaper Pack based on Star Trek - Ships which is now available on the site. Remember if you've made a Wallpaper Pack and want to share it with other DC users then please let me know.

Thursday 12th September

I've made a quick guide explaining how to use the Maker that comes with '10. Slide Show'.

Also Timed Shutdown has been added to SofoTex and given a 5 star rating! This is strange as I didn't even submit it? Ah well. :)

timed shutdown award

Sunday 15th September

Added another Wallpaper Pack. This one was kindly submitted by 'Eyes' and is of Central American Landscapes.

Tuesday 24th September

I've now made a new site dedicated to Desktop Calendar. The content isn't that different from what was on this site except it now has room to grow and expand. One thing that is new is the ability to preview the pictures in a Wallpaper Pack before you download it, could save you some time.

New version of 10. Slide Show is on the way. Speaking of which, quite a few people have linked to the program which is great. However please could you use the full name "10. Slide Show" when you do so. I often drop the start when I'm casually referring to it but it's not it's actual name. It's a small thing but for some reason really get on my nerves. Thank you. :)

Thursday 26th September

Today is the 1 year anniversary of the site! Yes, it only seems like yesterday since I first upload it. I remember in the beginning, I considered it a busy week if I got more then 3 hits! Thankfully things have gradually improved since then.

To celebrate this red letter date there is a new version of one of the first programs to appear on the site. Yes, I mentioned it earlier in the week, it's version 0.4b of 10. Slide Show!

Here's what's new....

Maker

  • Included the Maker into the main program.
  • Improved the up and down arrows in loaded images list.
  • You can also hold down and drag the loaded files to change their order.
  • Now asks before removing\clearing files from the loaded images list.
  • Added a 'Preview' function which allows you to test the show before you save it.
  • After saving a file you will now be given the option to run it straight away.
  • Now if you try and load a slide show while there are already loaded images you will be asked if you want to save them first.

Slide Show

  • Improved the shuffle function.
  • You can now add a sound track to your shows. mp3, wav and mid supported.
  • Added a link to the website on the About screen.
  • Added file filter to the load and save dialog boxes, the default extension for a slide show file is now ".sli"
  • The Delay can now be set to 'Forever' this means that it will only go to the next image when the hotkeys are used. This could be useful if your giving a presentation and want to talking between images?
  • I've made the directory tree slightly wider for long folder names.
  • Instead of the mouse being hidden all the time during a slide show, now if you move it it will become active again. Then after 2 seconds of inactivity it will hide.
  • Now remembers which item of the main menu you used last.
  • Any files you save now will be given a .sli extension and when double clicked will start the slide show.
  • You can now open a slide show file via the Command Line.
  • You now move the next and previous images using the Left and Right Arrow keys.
  • Hotkeys now work when Caps Lock is on.

Sunday 29th September

I'm going away for a few days, I'll be back on the 4th of October if you want to leave a message.

Thursday 5th December

Wow!!! It's been ages since I last updated the site. Don't worry, I haven't died....just yet. It's partly due to the fact any updates that have been made are to do with Desktop Calendar and therefore only appeared on the DC site. It's also because I haven't really felt like doing anything new!

I've put together a new Still and a new Animation, nothing special. Will this be the first of many.....who knows. I'd hate to commit myself and then be unable to deliver. Let just see shall we. :)

Anyway, enjoy and happy Thursday.

Monday 9th December

Another new Still. I drew this ages ago but when the saw the same joke on the T.V. I thought I better upload it quick before anyone else beat me to it. :(
