Desktop Calendar 7.0.0.4 released, with text based print support, bug fixes and other improvements:

  • Added text based print support
  • Added button to display the alert window
  • When exporting to a Data File you can now select "Everything" or "From Today Onwards"
  • Add support link to installer
  • Added a shortcut to add a Desktop Calendar gadget to the sidebar
  • Start day of the week now defaults to whatever your system is set to
  • Renamed the "Cancel" button on flyout to "Close" to avoid confusion
  • BUG FIX: Format of date pickers was displayed incorrectly in some regions
  • BUG FIX: When exporting to a Data File, re-occurring events would be included even if they didn't fall in the specified date range
  • BUG FIX: When importing legacy data files, the selected date range was not being used
  • BUG FIX: Ellipsis now used in alert window if event title is too long
  • BUG FIX: Clicking the same cell on a different month use to closes the flyout if open
  • BUG FIX: Date format on alert window was too long or elements repeated in some countries
  • BUG FIX: Fixed display issues when using DPI scaling in Windows

The preset data files are now also available for the legacy versions of the calendar (0.4x and 0.5x). They contain holidays and other events of interest. Supported countries are currently America, England and Scotland.

There are now some preset data files available to download for version 7 of the calendar. They contain holidays and other events of interest. Supported countries are America, England and Scotland with more to follow.

Please note these will not work in the legacy versions of the calendar (0.4x and 0.5x) but files will be released for these versions in the future.

A small update to the free version of the legacy calendar (0.44):

  • The hotkey CTRL+A will now select all text in the edit window
  • Minor improvements to installer\uninstaller
  • BUG FIX: Events would get truncated around 1000 characters. Now the program informs the user when they have reached the limit and stops any further input to avoid data loss

An update to the retail version of the legacy calendar has been released (0.54). It adds additional methods of calculating week numbers and fixes some bugs:

  • You can now select how the first week should be defined when calculating week numbers. Different countries use different methods so now you can select "week one" as being:

    • January 1st
    • First four days
    • First full week
    • ISO 8601 standard

    (Select the method you want to use by right-clicking on the week number boxes)

  • The hotkey CTRL+A will now select all text in the edit window
  • Stopped resetting the repeat type when clicking on the text box in the edit window
  • Minor improvements to installer\uninstaller
  • BUG FIX: Fixed a height issue with the edit box

Fixed some more minor bugs and improved the CSV import bringing the latest Desktop Calendar to version 7.0.0.3:

  • Improved CSV import method
  • BUG FIX: When editing a birthday or anniversary with an age/year, the age/year wasn't displayed until the day was re-opened
  • BUG FIX: Fixed a date parsing issue that affected some non-English based systems

  • BUG FIX: Fixed a problem saving "Daily" repeating events on non-English systems
  • BUG FIX: Some dates were truncated in the alert window on non-English systems
  • BUG FIX: Repeating information wasn't loaded correctly when editing "Daily" events

A small update has been released for Desktop Calendar 7. It's mostly bug fixing, but by popular demand a 12 hour clock has also been added:

  • BUG FIX: Stopped the wizards crashing if there was a space in the data file name
  • BUG FIX: Corrected the spelling of "migration" in the import and export wizards
  • BUG FIX: Fixed a display problem on non-English systems

The long awaited version 7 of Desktop Calendar is out! Rewritten from the ground up and fully compatible with Windows 7 and Vista, here are just some of the new features:

  • Advanced repeating rules e.g. 2nd Tuesday of the month
  • Use event categories to associate colours and icons to your events
  • Export your events to a HTML calendar
  • Have multiple calendars open at the same time, one for work, one for home etc.
  • Have a shared calendar that all users can see and add to
  • Add exceptions to repeating events e.g. every Friday but not that one
  • Make the calendar translucent
